This is the 2nd one I've had of this model and and in the beginning it had a weird oily smell as soon as I hooked it up. I hooked it up on Saturday and called customer service on Monday. Over the course of running it for 2 days the oily smell had begun to dissipate drastically. I informed them that I that I also smelt the smell in the Box and we agreed that it was an oil that was placed on the fan motor to seal it during manufacturing. They immediately offered to replace it however they're they assured me that if I wanted to keep it the smell would go completely away. Literally the next day the smell is gone and I absolutely love the fan. I will continue to purchase Honeywell fans and products due to their quality and their customer service.
